I bought this rooftop cargo carrier to move my belongings home after completing a temporary job. It was a 1000 mile trip that I did in one day. The instructions are helpful as are the videos on Amazon, just be aware that some people had problems with durability and leaks. My experience was based on a long trip that was mostly done on high speed interstates where I hit occasional strong winds and heavy rain. When I arrived it hadn't shifted at all on the roof and the insides were bone dry. My Mazda CX-9 doesn't have a roof rack, so I used the included door window clips and straps to keep it in place. I'd worried that the clips would allow water to get inside the car but it stayed sealed and there were no leaks. I recommend having a ladder handy and another person to help because I'm tall but trying to load the carrier while standing on the ground by myself took extra time. Only problem was that the fully loaded carrier raised the cars height enough that the larger surface area in heavy winds caused it to be sensitive to lane changes. The first time came as a surprise but it was easily manageable after that. Tip: I somehow missed that the carrier comes with protective pads so I bought a pack of them. Don't make that mistake! Very satisfied with this purchase, especially since the alternative would have been flying someone down to drive my car home while I drove a much more expensive rented van!

This actually keeps the items placed on it in place, no moving or sliding around anymore. Well worth the $10. Will be recommending this to other people . I do deliveries and I placed it in the cargo area of my SUV and it fits perfect with some spare left over I will be cutting off. Really great product for my needs.

Did the job...protected the car's roof.

i have a subaru outback with factory roof rack and this fits perfectly on the roof. i don’t have a roof rack basket. for car camping, i put some stuff on the roof to have space inside. this pad, helps protect the roof. i tie those stuff so if there’s still emergency, i can drive off and this will help to prevent it from sliding. good quality and good value for money

Easy to install| durable| quality| waterproof| roomy I moved from WA state to CA and it was a game changer! It kept my family’s things dry and safe during our drive! I will say you will want to buy the grip mat for underneath if your car rooftop isn’t flat or you drive fast. Every other stop we had to adjust it but I was ok with that as it lasted and kept our things safe and dry!

The bag has a tendency to slide backwards no matter how you strap it down. It chewed up my gas milage to the tune of a 30% loss. I get that it comes with the territory, but sliding back and bunching up made it worse. Otherwise it's a quality build and packs up nice and small.

I had intended to use it for a bag that I was going to attach directly to the roof and wanted to protect the paint but the plan changed when I got a roof rack system and attached a basket, then put the bag in the basket and attached it. So the pad went for another purpose as a cot pad topper so the sleeping bag wouldn’t slide around and it works well for that.

Haven’t had a chance to test long term, but I believe it will last. Had it on top my sprinter van for a 15 hour drive with some heavy rain on the highway with not an ounce of water inside. Lots of options for tie-downs that are pretty heavy duty. I’m liking this product so far… impressed!
