It does both. I let my daughter listen to the entire sentence and any word she doesn’t understand she just pressed it with the pen.

No, the pen does not write. You point the pen at a word on the page and it reads that word for you.

Hi, thank you for your inquiry. Here are the steps to load the audio. Download the LeapFrog Connect Application for LeapReader at leapfrog.com/connect; it will walk you through the setup process for your LeapReader, including downloading additional Companion Audio for your device. You can also touch an inside page of your books with your LeapReader and then connect the device to the computer via USB cord; the books' Companion Audio will then download automatically to your LeapReader after the LeapFrog Connect application opens on your desktop.
