This claims it requires C batteries which are bigger than the unit, so that's wrong. Anyway, how long will the batteries last with continuous use?

This is a small unit which I believe draws power off of the main unit which is charged…. There is no battery usage It did not fit my dremel head piece for my pet.

Is it possible to change the battery out?

There is a screw on the back of the light. I would assume it does open to a battery. I've had it over a year and used it a ton and the battery is still as bright as when I got it! Would buy again even if I couldn't change the battery honestly. Sorry I can't fully answer your question.
