Clematis are a well know and very widely ed species of vigorous climber that are widely distributed around the world. There are many forms and hybrids in cultivation, almost all grown for their amazing flowers. In general Clematis like to be ed in full sun but with shaded roots. After the first summer flowers have finished remove the dead heads. Can be used in a mixed ing or as a stand alone specimen in the garden or can easily be grown in a pot or container. Requires a frame work of some description to twine around. If it becomes to large it can easily be cut back after the spring flowers. When growing in a pot or other container. Use a good quality John Innes compost as this will be there a long time and peaty types of compost eventually degrade and become too packed and choke the roots. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 5-6 month applied in late spring. One application gives all the ents the requires for the whole year. John Innes is a soils based compost.
